Angrezi Medium (2020)
Directed by Homi Adajania
Starring Irrfan Khan,
Kareena Kapoor Khan
Champak Bansal (Irrfan Khan) owns a sweet shop in Udaipur,
Rajastan. Life is pretty straight-forward for him as it mostly involves
lavishing his care and attention upon his only daughter Tarika (Radhika Madan) and
getting into disputes with his cousin Gopi over using the Ghasiteram family
name for their businesses. Now Tarika’s only dream from childhood is to go
abroad. In the usual parental tone Champak always used to dismiss her wish with
something like, ‘We will go for sure, dear,’ but Tarika’s dream was not to be
forgotten easily. So when her college partners with London's Truford University,
she sees a golden opportunity to realize her dream. If she got high marks she
could secure a scholarship to study there. Tarika vows to work hard eventhough
she is very weak in her studies and makes Champak promise that he would allow
her to go to London when she gets the scholarship. The rest of the story is a
series of hilarious incidents which will entertain you till the end.
Irrfan Khan has given life to this character perfectly as
always. This is his last movie
appearance. A very versatile actor who was active in Bollywood as well as
Hollywood movies, he was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor in March 2018.
He died on April 29, 2020 due to a colon infection. His works include Hindi
Movies such as The Lunchbox, Life in a Metro, Hindi Medium, Talvar, Piku etc.
and English movies such as Jurassic World, Life of Pi, The Amazing Spiderman,
Slumdog Millionaire and so on.
Deeply saddened by this great loss. May his soul rest in peace.
